about us

We have always been driven by curiosity. We met in undergrad, and bonded over being total fucking dweebs/study guide enthusiasts. That was the era when our love for David Attenborough bloomed and we invented the Planet Earth Drinking Game— later to be turned into a wildly successful live show in nyc! After graduating (and forgetting to wear our robes to our phi beta kappa initiation), we set about bringing our enthusiasm for curiosity into the real world. That meant taking a series of road trips through 25(!) national parks, where we hiked with paleontologists, looked at plants through our loupes, saw a total solar eclipse, cooked quesadillas in parking lots, and came up with a travel style we like to call Science Tourism. When not writing books, we guide tours, host shows, and liberally use ‘tk’ in all our documents.

 

emily hoff

emily hoff is the Big Ideas Person of this author duo. She's constantly inventing new projects and swinging for the fences. Other hats that Emily wears when working with Maygen include Chief Campsite Dishwashing Officer, Monitor of the Weather Radar, Knower of Hamilton Lyrics, and Queen of the Research Books. When she isn't working with Maygen, you can find her writing museum exhibits for the likes of the American Museum of Natural History or giving tours all over the continental United states. She lives in new mexico.

maygen keller is the Pragmatist in Chief of this author duo. Her organization, wit, and budgetary skills are constantly being called upon to make Big Ideas into Reality. Known for her ability to quickly assemble tents, she's also renowned throughout the country for being able to start a campfire in a rainstorm. When working with Emily, her roles also include Chief Car Organization Architect, Chief Playlist Officer, Lead Harmonizer in Hamilton Sing-Alongs, and #Hashtag Genius. In other parts of her life, she is a creative project manager and salesperson. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
